Ink: Window to Tranquility
Hong Kong, HK (23 February, 2016) Lucie Chang Fine Arts is pleased to present Ink: Window to Tranquility, solo exhibition of Ink artist Winnie Mak.
In between Canada and Hong Kong, Winnie MAK draws upon her inner voice and imagination to create an exploration of what lies inside when we disconnect from the bustle and hustle challenge of retreating from the urban lifestyle. She employs non traditional approaches to the practice of Chinese ink by giving a new dialogue to the framework of traditional ink. Her intricate ink lines exemplify both purity and clarity by the lines of diverse species of flowers, they grow and sub-divide themselves along the microscopic path of life in the resonant space, and so do we.
Whenever Winnie starts a work, she does not begin with any sketch. Every point on the blank paper is the arena for her creative process. She insists working on same subject with varying styles, methods and mediums. The bits and pieces become a natural development process and an integration of growth coming together, in cooperating them into real life experiences.
With the lines and rich shades of colours in her ink art, leading us into a peaceful and pleasant world that enable us to freely travel heartfelt moments of the pattern of life and to perceive a mental interaction with Mother Nature.
