Waken From A Dream

Catherine Zhang, received Master Degree from Central Academic of Fine Art with her strong techniques of sketching, construction and solid foundation on using colors. As a student of Professor Ma during master studies, she got rid of traditional painting skills and successfully established her own style by exploring her emotional expression from the combination of oil painting and mixed media. Her works are well recognized by art professionals. 

 

She is the first recent postgraduate student to get into the Mixed Media Art Studio, which has strict admission requirement and never enroll recent post-graduate students.  The post-graduate student in that studio must have very good understanding and excellent mastery of every characteristic of different kinds of materials. The studio investigates from very traditional oil painting to new mixed media of any combination with oil paintings.

 

She was the first post-graduate student to be awarded “the Best Creation” several times. (Award-winning works: “Fetters” and “Sketching of life”)

 

Her graduation artworks of “Depression and Happiness” were all collected by Art Museum. She is also the first master whose most of the works collected among those post-graduate students in Central Academy of Fine Art. Her five pieces of artworks of “Mother and Son” were all privately collected by professor of Central Academic of Fine Art.

 

Her award-winning artworks of “Sketching of life” are recreated and enlarged in this exhibition in Hong Kong.  Four pieces of the series are collected by professor and the rest are selected to be exhibited with Chen Danqin, Zhang Xiaogang and other 26 artists in China.
